Dental Missions

Guatemala

All the stars have aligned and everything appears to be set for one of our best trips ever to do the mission work in Guatemala. We have a commitment from a full medical team and I am putting together a full dental team. The stove ministry, one of the most rewarding portions of the mission, has grown to be an integral part of the trip for anyone who wants to participate. For those who haven't experienced that portion of our efforts, we go into the poorest of the poor folks' homes and set up a cinder block and ceramic stove kit to replace the open fire that they burn in their one room, dirt floor homes. It saves them 70% of the wood they would normally use which frees up two full days of wood gathering that can now be used to work a job. It also eliminates the in house smoke that they live with constantly. It truly changes their lives on several levels. Of course, we also have our evangelical teams that visit with folks about changing their lives in the most important way.

There is a place on this trip for everyone. We are scheduled to leave on April 17th and come home the following weekend. We are also working on an optional one day additional trip to the ruins of Tecal which will be fantastic! More on that option in the future. The estimated cost for the basic trip is $1500 dependent on air fares, and that will include everything...flight, transfers, lodging, meals...the works. The only other cost you would have is personal expenses once we leave the mission area to go home.

Of course, we need volunteers for all of these phases, especially folks who can't imagine what they would be able to do. Those folks always make up about 80% of our folks on the trip.
